Trio Azure brings together dynamic Los Angeles musicians Chrysanthe Tan (violin), Kiara Ana Perico (viola), and April Guthrie (cello).
Chrysanthe Tan, violinist and composer, studied at Stanford and California Institute of the Arts and has worked, recorded, and performed with artists such as Marco Antonio Solis, Marc Anthony, Cheyenne, OneRepublic, Frank Ocean, Héléne Ségara, Dumbfoundead, The Dolls, St. Lawrence String Quartet, Riverside Philharmonic, and USC Thornton Symphony. She currently appears on the FOX TV show GLEE as a violinist and violist in the McKinley High School band. Chrysanthe also performs all over Los Angeles with folk band Tommy Santee Klaws and plays electric 5-string violin in the string rock groups Electric String Angels and Bella Electric Strings. Nine of her original compositions are currently featured in the Sarah Louise Wilson short film "Eleanor Rigby," which premiered at Cannes Festival as part of the Shorts Corner in May 2013.
Kiara Ana Perico, violist and native of Amherst, Massachusetts, graduated from Boston University. While in college, she began playing with a local indie-rock/pop band in Boston, Air Traffic Controller, and became very interested in incorporating strings into other genres of music. She moved to New York City for a year after Boston, and life has now brought her more permanently to Los Angeles. In the studio, she has worked with many incredible musicians (including John Oates, Bleu, Air Traffic Controller, Helen Austin, Laura Warshauer, My Radio and Sad Robot), producers (PJ Bianco, Bleu) and Grammy-award-winning mixing engineer, Ducky Carlisle. She has tracked songs for the above artists as well as Chris Brown and LP. Kiara has toured with the Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Bleu, Laura Warshauer, Air Traffic Controller and Vinnie Ferra. As a Wood Violin artist, Kiara sports a sky blue six-string fretted viper on which she performs in addition to her viola and violin.
April Guthrie, a Kansas City native and now Los Angeles based cellist and vocalist, is dedicated to performance and collaboration with artists of all genres. She holds a Master's Degree in Multi-Focus Cello Performance from the California Institute of the Arts and a BA in cello performance and environmental studies from Illinois Wesleyan University. Her recent concerts and tours have taken her to Alaska, Australia, Canada, Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, Macedonia, Germany, England, and to all corners of North America: performing with Guster, Moira Smiley & VOCO, Spiritualized, Seawolf, The Grandmothers Reinvented (Zappa), guitarist Miroslav Tadic and actor Rade Serbedzija, as well as working on screen with actors from NBC’s Heroes. She is currently endorsed by NSDesigns, and plays on their NXT electric cello.
